The Light Pillow

This is one of those lamps you really wish you could afford so that you could place it in your child’s room.  Then investing quite a bit in giving the room a highly whimsical theme and creating basically a dream land.  Odd lighting that no one would ever expect to see always makes for a great way to change up a room.  Even a normally plain room would be perked up with something like this.

It can be tossed onto the floor, placed on a table, hung on the wall or even used as a chandelier.  It’s also easy to wash, so for those of you that would use this for a kid, it’d still be a great option.  The cover itself is completely removable and made of 100% cotton, while the frame is made of powder-coated metal.  They don’t actually give any indication as to what type of light bulb this would need or if it’s an LED light.

SIM card reader kit

Adafruit's Citizen Engineer comic book / SIM card reader kit

The gang at Adafruit Industries are on a mission -- and they won't rest until every man, woman, and child on this planet has access to the DIY and open source electronics they crave. The most recent project of theirs, Citizen Engineer: SIM Card Hacking, is a comic book that both serves as a primer on GSM and SIM cards and tells you how to build a SIM card reader. And if that weren't awesome enough, if you purchase the title for $35 they'll throw in the reader kit -- either enabling your thirst for knowledge or jump-starting you on your path towards a new life as a hacker / fixer for the Russian Mafia. Video after the break.

BluAlert Bluetooth Bracelet

Bluetooth Bracelet Buzzes

Your cellphone is sitting at the bottom of your bag, or perhaps lost in the cavernous folds of your jacket pocket. With the noise of the environment around you, you'll never hear it ringing. Maybe it's your girlfriend saying she wrecked your car, your mom informing you of an unexpected inheritance, your roommate telling you that Ed McMahon's waiting for you at your apartment with a giant novelty check, or Jessica Alba asking you out on a date (hey, it could happen). The bottom line is, when your phone rings, you had better know it, 'cause you never know who's calling.

The BluAlert bracelet uses Bluetooth technology to buzz discretely on your wrist when your phone rings. Even in the loudest room, or the most boisterous dance-floor, you won't miss it when BlueAlert goes off.

Even better, BluAlert acts like a security device! Once paired with your phone, if it should suddenly find itself more than 5 meters away, BlueAlert buzzes. Not only will you never miss a call, you'll never lose your phone.

EA NERF Wii

EA announces latest NERF Wii game with new and improved blaster

Thought all your dreams of an all-in-one NERF gun / Wii controller were fulfilled with the original NERF Blaster Controller? Think again. 'Cause EA has now announced its follow-up NERF 2: N-Strike Elite game, which will of course also come bundled with a new and improved NERF Switch Shot EX-3 blaster. As before, this one will house the Wiimote inside to let you use it with the game or let you ditch it to take things outside (or to the office), and it adds a new attachable "NERF decoder scope" that'll let you detect enemy weak spots, decode secret messages, and uncover other hidden gameplay elements. And, well, it's a NERF gun and a Wii controller. Is there anything else you really need to know? No word on a price just yet, but you can look for the bundle to launch sometime this fall.
