LG GM750 with Windows Mobile 6.5

LG is about to release LG GM750 mobile for October, powered by Windows Mobile 6.5, which these days is what touches announce the Windows Mobile. What is LG has made an alliance with Vodafone to launch a European level as an exclusive phone, the new be sold in 5 countries on the same day, October 6, and in December in all countries where Vodafone is present.

The LG mobile phone has a 3 inch touch screen, resolution 240 × 400 pixels, with a modified interface based on S-Class, with GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 5 megapixel camera, compatible with HSDPA / HSUPA, card slot microSD to use as main memory and FM radio.

This LG GM750 be available in Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the UK, but also in France with SFR operator, did not announce the price, probably because Vodafone offers will differ depending on country. We have to wait until October.

LG GW620 1st Android phone

Though it already broke cover at IFA out in Germany a few days ago, LG's just sealed the deal on its very first Android phone -- the GW620 landscape QWERTY slider. Interestingly, the "Etna" name seen at IFA is missing from the official press release, but otherwise, the 3-inch touchscreen mentioned lines up nicely with what we'd previously known. Camera specs aren't mentioned here, but as far as we know, it's going to clock in at 5 megapixels and the phone looks to be loaded with a very bone-stock Android build sans LG-specific enhancements like an S-Class port. Interestingly, the GW620 flies in the face of LG's super-cozy relationship with Microsoft and its commitment to concentrate on WinMo in its smartphone line, but you can tell that the company's wording in the release is very carefully-chosen: the phone is geared at "making the smartphone experience more accessible for typical users" and "young professionals who demand a full QWERTY keypad," which we guess makes WinMo a more business-savvy platform in LG's eyes. We think we're comfortable with that characterization -- for now, anyway. Look for the GW620 to start showing up in "select European markets" in the fourth quarter of the year.

LG X130 Netbook

Finally we come to more accurate data of the new LG netbook. Known as the LG X130, with 10 inch screen and will be sold in several countries for a price $632 respectively.

Some of its features are:

• Resolution 1024 x 600 pixels
• Intel Atom processor N270 at 1.6GHz
• 1GB of RAM
• 160GB hard drive capacity
• Connectivity Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g/n
• Autonomy of the battery in approximately 12 hours in active mode

The nerbook does not come with an integrated modem while they will be managed by Windows XP Home.

As mentioned at the beginning, LG X130 come to Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East Africa for a price of around $ 632.

LG GD910 watch phone

As promised, Orange France today began selling the GD910 watch phone. Still the first phone of its type to use 3G calling and data, the device still functions as a world clock and stopwatch but, through a touchscreen, can perform both the usual calling and messaging as well as handle music playback and take VGA-sized photos. Bluetooth is instrumental to the GD910; it comes with a designer headset for calls and supports optional Bluetooth stereo headphones.

The upscale, waterproof design carries a high premium and will sell for €899 ($1,291) on a 1- or 2-year contract. LG hasn't said how soon if ever it will export the GD910 to the US, though without price cuts would be more likely to show only as an unlocked device; it supports quad-band GSM and EDGE and should work for at least calls and 2G data in North America. LG GM730

 

 

Expected Q3 2009

We first saw the LG GM730 back in February and now after a long wait, LG have finally given some more details about this upcoming Windows smartphone.

It's worth noting

that the design has changed a little since the first time we saw it, and annoyingly LG still haven't confirmed all the GM730's technical details.

LG's announcement at the CommunicAsia event in Singapore indicates that the GM730 should be available in Asian markets in July, followed by the rest of the world afterwards. Inspired by Apple, LG too are launching an "application store" for their smartphone range, where users can download and buy add-on software.

The GM730 has been designed to be easy to use - the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system has been enhanced with LG's S-Class user interface to make it easier. There are a number of other smaller enhancements to the software on the GM730 as well, but we do feel that all the customisations come at the expense of the standard look-and-feel that you should be able to get with a Windows Mobile device.

Apart from the colours available, LG haven't given any more updates on the GM730's hardware. We know that it has a 3.0" 240 x 400 pixel touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, a multimedia player, GPS and WiFi. The GM730 will be available in Black, Lime and Pale Pink colour schemes. We don't know for certain if the GM730 takes microSD cards, but we assume that it does.

Measuring 110 x 57 x 13mm, the LG GM730 is quite a lot more compact than the rival Apple iPhone 3G S (for example). Underneath, this is a quad-band GSM mobile phone with dual-band UMTS 900 / 2100 and 3.5G data support. Maximum download speeds on HSDPA are 7.2 Mbps with maximum HSUPA upload speeds of 2.0 Mbps, and as we mentioned earlier.. the GM730 also has WiFi.

So, the GM730 seems to fit in a very small market niche - aimed at people who want a relatively compact Windows smartphone, but who want a friendlier interface on top. But ultimately, there doesn't seem to be an awful lot to make the GM730 stand out from the crowd.

LG XF1 Hard Drive

LG XF1 Ho Hum Multimedia Hard Drive

For a portable home theater, an aesthetically pleasing form factor is as important as versatile format support. What we have here is LG's first mobile multimedia hard drive - XF1. Measuring a 20.8mm in thickness, the XF1 features a gorgeous gloss-black finish with smooth curves, and internally, it has a 500GB and a codec decoder that only reads exclusively FAT32 and NTFS. So, it's not as Mac-friendly as we would have hoped.

Around the back, you'll find a HDMI connector, a power plug, a composite AV output, and a mini-USB jack. The drive, unlike the WD TV HD, has on-onboard touch-sensitive buttons for navigation when you forget to bring along a remote. Video and sound codec compatibility are isn't too shabby, including OGG Vobis and AC3 for audio, but the lack of H.264, WMV and MKV is really a letdown even if the XF1 can playback MPEG-2, DivX and MPEG-4 in HD resolutions, up to 1080i. With choice like LaCie Rugged HD, LG will be fighting an uphill battle if they don't rectify their mistake.

LG Chocolate 2009 Teaser

LG have been a bit of a tease this year, and their early look at the next-generation LG Chocolate (we're going to call it the LG Chocolate 2009 for now) is another peek at something enticing.

The original Chocolate phone was a bit of a game changer for LG and indeed the whole mobile phone market back in 2006. The original Chocolate sold in large numbers and got LG noticed by consumers, and its sleek and glossy design was one of the best looking devices around until the iPhone turned up.

We really don't know much about the new Chocolate at all, except that LG say that it "will be a disruptive force in conventional mobile screens in an effort to maximize usability yet carry on the minimalist-inspired style and iconic design of its predecessor." So we're guessing that this means no touchscreen.. which is actually a bit of a relief.

Full details of the new Chocolate will hopefully be available next month. In the mean time, these moodily lit photographs are all we have to go on. It certainly looks like a very elegant handset from what we can see!

LG BL42 Chocolate

LG BL42 Chocolate leaks: 5MP UMTS slider

After the leaked photos of the LG BL40 were spotted this morning, we’ve been wondering what the touchscreen device’s smaller sibling might be.  According to AllAboutPhones’ tipster, it’s actually the LG BL42, and the true successor to the original LG Chocolate.

As we suggested earlier, the blank lower-front panel hides some backlit touch-sensitive buttons, in the manner of previous Chocolate handsets.  Above, there’s a 240 x 320 non-touchscreen display, while a numeric keypad pulls out from underneath.

On the back there’s a 5-megapixel camera, and the BL42 is believed to have 3G UMTS high-speed data and an OS based on Java.  No word on pricing, nor a final name, but we’d expect the LG BL42 Chocolate to come in cheaper than its full-touchscreen bigger brother.

LG X13

LG X13 netbook spotted in FCC photo shoot

Sure, its phone lineup has more or less gone the way of the KIRF, but LG's other endeavors are decidedly more interesting, and this new X13 netbook (more than likely the X130 when it launches) that's popped up in the FCC is no exception. Compared with the X120, the body here appears to have a slightly wider form factor and the front doesn't curve quite as dramatically. All the FCC is testing for is Bluetooth and WiFI -- sorry 3G hopefuls -- but specs-wise, we'd venture a guess and say it's sporting a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM... you know, the same specs found in virtually every other netbook in existence. Hey, maybe we'll get proven wrong, but with no clue on when LG's going official with this one, we might be waiting quite some time for verification.

LG GD910

LG GD910 watchphone to go on sale in UK this August

We don't know about anyone else, but we've been waiting on LG's GD910 ever since we first heard about it way back around CES. We've already heard that the watch / phone-loving combo would hit shelves sometime in July (that's now) in Europe, but it looks like it's going to be more like August -- at least in the UK. T3 says they've confirmed this with Orange (the GD910's exclusive carrier), and though the price remains unspecified, we're expecting it to cost somewhere between $1,000 and way-more-than-you-should-spend. We're not going to bother with the requisite Dick Tracy comments this time (though we'll freely admit we're somehow fond of the Warren Beatty disaster), but hit the read link for fuller details.

LG GC900

Viewty Smart, now more official than ever before

Okay, now it's official. After a misstep late last week, LG's ready to pull the trigger for reals on the Viewty Smart, the follow-on to one of its more successful high-end feature phones in recent memory. Pretty much every major feature has been improved or revamped over the original Viewty, including bumps to WVGA display resolution, an 8 megapixel camera with claimed ISO 1600 sensitivity (we'll see about that), DVD-quality video recording, LG's recently-introduced S-Class user interface concept, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, integrated WiFi, AGPS, and 1.5GB onboard with microSD expansion theoretically to 32GB. What's more, LG has somehow smushed this all into a package just 12.4mm thick, which makes this just about the most desirable non-smartphone on the planet -- on paper, anyhow. Look for it to start hitting European carriers next month, with availability elsewhere to be announced later on.

After a false start, it looks like LG has finally gotten it down pat and officially announced the Viewty Smart (LG-GC900). In case you missed all the hype over the phone, it sports an 8-megapixel camera that has sensitivity up to ISO 1600, LED flash, multi-face detection. It also has LG’s new 3D S-Class UI, which debuted in LG’s Arena earlier this year. A WVGA 3-inch touchscreen display, HSDPA, A-GPS, 1.5GB internal memory and microSD card expansion top off the list, just to make sure that you’re drooling.

Best Touch Phones

Since the introduction of the Apple iPhone on January the 9th, the world has gone touch pad crazy, touch pad technology is the way of the future and many companies have heard the call and made their own touch pad phones in direct competition with the iPhone. This is a top ten list of iPhone Competitors, some of the phones are the real deal, some are just concepts at the moment, all are cool.

Coming in at Number 1 is the recently announced Samsung F700 ultra slim phone, answering the call early Samsung have come up with a splendid touch pad phone. Surprisingly at Number Four is unknown Swedish phone the Neonode N2 TouchScreen. This awesome little phone made it's debut at 3GSM and plans to take it right up to the iPhone in a big way. Cool features include it's size factor, it is alot smaller than other touchscreen phones which should make it easier to carry around than most other touch phones and also it features an interesting gesture controlled screen and runs off of an open source platform.

The OpenMoko Neo1973 has been dubbed the iPhone killer and it is hard to disagree it has some awesome features, such as a large, touch-sensitive VGA display, GPRS data, Bluetooth, 128MB RAM, AGPS (Assisted GPS), and 64MB of Flash. The best thing about this phone is that it is a open source project and anyone can contribute to making it into a great phone.

At Six is another concept phone the Asus Aura Concept Phone. ASUS is mostly known for making computer parts and motherboards, however over the past year or so ASUS have tried there hand at making Cell Phones and their not doing to bad a job of it either. ASUS's strategy is to make as many phones as possible in the hope that one will become a hit, there is not a day that goes by without ASUS releasing a new phone. This month they responded to iPhones call and made the Asus Aura Touch screen Phone, like the Samsung F700 this phone has a QWERTY keypad, features a 2-megapixel camera, 3.9-inch touch screen display and is only 9mm thick. Everyone better watch out for these guys they are a massive manufacturer and they are starting to make their mark in the cell phone industry, specially in countries outside of the US.

The Linux based FIC-GTA001 smartphone fights it way to the Number 7 spot and actually comes bundled with a SDK (Software Development Kit). Sporting a 2.8-inch VGA display and
having nifty features like; multi-touch sensor recognition, GSM, GPS and MP3 playback capabilities, its no mystery why we think the phone is cool! The FIC-GTA001 draws it juice from a Samsung ARM9-based processor and the two finger scrolling is reminiscent of the Macbook.

Big on design but lacking in features, the BenQ-Siemens Black Box Concept Phone comes in at Number Eight. This phone is just a concept phone. BenQ is trying to make a impact in Asia cell phone market. This phones lacks all the cool functions the above phones have and just really has a nice design and big touch screen. Apple has nothing to worry about with this one.

At Nine is the Chinese only Meizu M8 which is also known as the miniOne. It's claim to fame and the reason why is it so well known in the tech world is because it is believed that this company knocked off the iPhones design.
