Samsung SPH-P9000 - The First 4G Mobile Device

Samsung revealed the first production ready WiBro convergence mobile device, the SPH-P9000, which will be available for Korean telco KTF’s customers in the first half of 2007. The SPH-P9000 is an UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) and at the same time a communication device with supports for both WiBro and CDMA2000 1X EV-DO networks. In short, it’s the first 4G mobile “phone”.

The SPH-P9000 is slightly larger and thicker than the Nokia 770. It measures 143×94 x 29.7 mm in dimensions and weighs 560 g (19.75 ounces). It runs on a 1GHz Transmeta processor chip and comes with a compact 65-key QWERTY keyboard and a 5-inch WVGA LCD. The main attractions are its powerful multimedia functions and support for WiBro, the new generation wireless broadband. The SPH-P9000 also comes with a 30GB embeded storage space which is enough for a good amount of multimedia files. When it is connected to a WiBro network, users can easily utilize the VOD/MOD functions or conduct video conferences by utilizing its built-in 1.3-megapixel camera.
